Cinematographer Lawrence Sher's cityscapes are stunning, and Phoenix is a great actor. The film is packed with strong elements that will keep you interested, even up to the subway bloodbath. This scene is reminiscent of the Bernhard Goetz film. Phillips is careful in keeping the film from being racist. However the forced material (about Joker's criminal career and the anti-rich movement) tends to make viewers leave.
The Joker Seven is the first time that Madame Halloween makes an appearance in the comic, and her interaction with the Ex-Commish is memorable.
